The great majority of recoveries are quiet and uneventful. Even so, get in touch straight away if you notice any of the following:

• Heavy or persistent bleeding that does not settle with light pressure from a clean gauze pad.
• Swelling or pain that increases after the third day instead of easing.
• Fever, chills, or a bad taste or smell from the area.
• Numbness that does not fade, or difficulty swallowing or breathing.
