What to expect, what to do, when to contact us
Veneer Aftercare
Your new veneers are now part of you. Most of what comes next is the same as caring for your own teeth — clean them, protect them, and contact us if anything escalates. The pages that follow cover the first month in plain language.
The first 24 hours
- 01Avoid hard or chewy food on the new teeth.
- 02Skip alcohol-based mouthwash.
- 03Skip whitening toothpaste — it does not change ceramic.
- 04Avoid coffee, red wine, and dark berries for 48 hours so the cement margin sets clean.
- 05Floss gently around the rest of the mouth as normal; be careful around the veneered teeth.
Sensitivity — what is normal
A cold sensitivity for the first week is normal. An occasional dull ache is normal. It will pass. Drink at room temperature when you can. If you drink iced coffee through a metal straw against the upper front teeth, you will sit at the long end of the sensitivity window — change the habit for a fortnight and the window closes.
What is not normal
- 01Sharp pain on biting — message us.
- 02Throbbing at rest beyond day three — message us.
- 03Anything escalating beyond day seven — message us.
- 04A veneer that feels loose, sounds different when tapped, or shows a visible chip — message us immediately.
Direct WhatsApp line — message us, do not wait for the next visit.
The night-guard — non-negotiable
Two weeks after cementation, you come back for the night-guard fitting. The night-guard is part of the treatment, not optional. It protects the work from the unconscious grinding most adults do, and it is the single most important thing you can do for the lifetime of your veneers.
Hygiene — for life
- 01Soft-bristled brush, fluoride toothpaste.
- 02Floss daily.
- 03Professional hygiene every six months.
- 04Skip peroxide whitening toothpastes — they will not lighten the ceramic and will weaken the natural teeth.
